Best Blender for the Money 2014

Blenders 2014

You can use virtually any blender to make smoothies, but how good those smoothies are will depend on how good your blender is in a number of areas. Making smoothies can be quite tough on blenders. We are basically asking them to chop up solid lumps of ice. If you have even felt how strong ice can be you can see that a task like that involves a great deal of punishment. So if you blender is not up to the job making a smoothie from frozen fruit and ice is soon going to show that.

Also some blenders suffer from designs that leave bits of fruit and veg stuck beneath the blades. And because the smoothie will hide this you problem wont even see the lumps until you feel it in your mouth. So a good blender will be able to make a much smoother smoothie too.

So although cheaper blenders mean you save you money in the beginning you will find you are having to chop up your ingredients even smaller to ensure the blender can cope which means things take even more time. With the more powerful and well made top rated blenders such as Vitamix and Blendtec models you will find you dont need to chop up your produce as much, just throw everything in and go.

Juices or Smoothies – Which Is Better

Blender or Juicer

So which is better for you and why. Im sure many people are asking the same question. So lets look at smoothies first as thats what you will create with your blender. For one thing juicing only gets you the juice, wheres are smoothies contain everything from the fruits and vegetables. This has many benefits as fibre is great for the bowels and also keep you regular.

Also the fibre slows down the digestion, so you wont get such an up and down hits from the sugars. The fibre also leaves you feeling fuller too, so you are less likely to be feeling hungry and craving more to eat afterwards. Some say that there are benefits to having whole fruits including the fibre as you would get in smoothies, but for vegetables you dont have the sugars to deal with so you can do just as well juicing those.

For those people who have digestion issues or have trouble dealing with fibre, this is where juicers can come out on top. And some people dont actually like the full up feeling that you get from drinking smoothies. If you are any of those then juicing will win for you. Some also believe that juicing can detox and cleanse your body too.

The great thing about making your own smoothies at home is the fact that you know exactly what is in them. Commercial smoothies and juices will vary in there ingredients and you will never really know if extras have been added to make them taste better or keep longer.

Another plus for blenders is that compared to juicers they are relatively easy to clean. After use just add water and blend to get most of the residue out, then give them a quick wash and you are done. Cleaning juicers can often be a much longer process and anything that ads to the time it takes is likely to put you off from using the juicer.

If you are trying to improve the whole families diet, smoothies are great because kids love smoothies. And its easy to adapt the smoothie to make them to everyones taste. Also with a blender you can use the machine for other things, not just making smoothies. With a juicer, that pretty much all you can use it for, as most people tend to buy juicers just for that job alone.

If you are still undecided its possible if you have the budget and the space in your kitchen to do both. Personally I prefer smoothies, as I never feel good about throwing away half my produce as I have to when I juice. Ok all that pulp makes for good fertiliser for the garden but I always feel like im throwing away good nutrition when I discard my pulp. The side result of juicing also is that you need a lot more produce to get make juices, so unless you can get cheap produce or grow a lot of your own, juicing will be more expensive in terms of ingredients.

So if I had to choose one I would probably go for a good quality blender as I know I would be likely to use that on a daily basis and the overall cost is less in terms of produce.

Do I Need A Vitamix?

Why Are Vitamix Blenders So Expensive?

Lots of people are asking this question so lets see if we can answer that. The main reason that people ask such a question is because the Vitamix blenders ( and also the Blendtec blenders that are a similar type of heavy duty power blender) or so much more expensive than other blenders for the home. The big difference between power blenders such as the Vitamix and these other cheaper blenders is the Vitamix blenders are designed to run at much higher speeds and use blades that are designed for these speeds to ensure that everything gets blended.

If you are making a lot of blended food such as smoothies on a regular basis, especially if you are using this to improve your diet and nutrition, then you will find that you are using your blender daily if not more. This kind of heavy use is hard on blenders and their blades and motors, especially if you are crushing and blending frozen fruit and ice. Do this often enough in a cheaper blender and you will find that the blades dull and the motors starts to struggle and that the smoothies become chunkier and chunkier over time as the blender starts to struggle or gives up all together.

If you look in health food stores and juice bars, which blenders will you see the most. It will either be a Vitamix or a Blendtec, and these power bleders are known to just run and run. They are also versatile when used in the home as they can be used to prepare so many different things such as nut butters like peanut butter and are even good at making ice cream.
